Mission Statement

The mission of the Aesthetic Technologies Lab is to provide the instruction, tools and resources to promote creative inquiry at the intersection of technology development and fine arts practice. To this end, our focus is to support projects that integrate high-end and low-end technologies, as an integral component in the art-making process, as well as projects that include cross-disciplinary collaboration and experimentation. The @ Lab is the host site for a variety of learner-centric activities, including ad hoc workshops, fine arts studio coursework, staff development activities, and ongoing courses specific to interdisciplinary practices, thought, and collaboration. Programming and curriculum development, including outreach across program areas is managed by the Director, Dr. Katherine Milton, and a faculty board. Our goal is to develop and nourish an academic center of local, regional and international prominence both in its intellectual and its artistic / aesthetic contributions.
